Javier Gallego Larrubia
Javier Gallego Larrubia is a Lawyer admitted to the Bar Association of Madrid since 1998, Professor of Business Law at the Complutense University of Madrid and Correspondent Academic Member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain with extensive professional experience in all areas of Business and Civil Law. He combines the professional practice with teaching and research activities at the Complutense University of Madrid. He is Arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration of the Bar Association of Madrid.
Specialised in transactions and restructuring of companies, M&A, divestment processes, corporate disputes and shareholder agreements, civil and commercial contracts, settlements with creditors, bankruptcies and pre-bankruptcy counselling. Recognised Lawyer by the international guide Best Lawyers for inclusion in the 11th and 12th Editions of The Best Lawyers in Spain (2019 and 2020) and Leading Corporate Transactions, Restructuring and Divestment Process Attorney of the Year – Spain by Leading Adviser Awards 2019.
Founding partner of Gallego Larrubia Abogados, Gallego, Martos & Quadra-Salcedo and De la Cuesta, Gallego & Martos Law Firms. He has previously rendered his professional services as a lawyer in the international Law Firms Clifford Chance, Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo and Strateg. Founding associate of the Spanish Association of Minority Shareholders of Listed Companies (AEMEC).
Educational and research activities
He is Professor of Business Law at the Complutense University of Madrid and Professor at Master’s Program in Private Law and of Access Practice of Law at the Complutense University of Madrid.
A lecturer at the IE (Instituto de Empresa) and at IFAES (International Faculty for Executives), he has participated as a specialist in Business Law in several media. He is the author of a number of specialized publications (monograph and articles in scientific journals) and other informative and opinion publications in Expansión, El Economista and La Gaceta de los Negocios. He has participated at several national and international congresses, he was selected participant at “VIII Harvard Course in Law and Economics” (Harvard Law School – Harvard University), Extraordinary Degree Award 1998, Freshfields – Expansion Award for Best Student of Business Law in Spain in 1998 – Finalist, and he won the PhD Fellowship from the Royal College of Spain in Bologna (Italy), a PhD Fellowship from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Fellowship from the Bologna University Law School.
Correspondent Academic Member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain. European PhD in Law Research (Dottorato Eurpeo di Ricerca) from the Bologna University (Italy) with Honors. Research Proficiency obtained with the highest qualifications in all PhD courses in the Business Law Department of the Complutense University of Madrid. Degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid with Honors (Extraordinary Award).
He belongs to the Bar Association of Madrid.
